Who Makes Clover Valley Peanut Butter?
We all know and love Clover Valley peanut butter, but have you ever wondered who makes this deliciousness? Well, the answer may surprise you.
It’s actually a co-op of farmers in Virginia that have been perfecting their craft for over 100 years! The process begins with the farmers growing and harvesting the peanuts. They then send them to the co-op’s processing plant where they are roasted and ground into a smooth paste.
After that, all that’s left to do is add some salt (or not, if you prefer unsalted) and package it up for us to enjoy. So next time you take a spoonful of Clover Valley peanut butter, be sure to give a little thanks to the hardworking farmers who made it possible.
Clover Valley Peanut Butter Recall
Clover Valley is voluntarily recalling a limited number of its 16-ounce jars of smooth peanut butter with a “Best By” date of August 4, 2016. This recall is being made as a precautionary measure because the affected product has the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella bacteria.
Salmonella is an organism which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis. The recalled peanut butter was distributed to retail stores nationwide between June 6th – July 26th, 2016.
The peanut butter comes in a 16-ounce clear plastic jar marked with lot code “084” on the bottom and has a red twist-off lid. Consumers who have purchased this product should not consume it but should return it to the place of purchase for a full refund.
Is Clover Valley Peanut Butter Good?
There are a lot of different opinions out there about Clover Valley peanut butter. Some people think it’s great, while others find it to be somewhat lacking. In my opinion, Clover Valley peanut butter is just okay.
It’s not the best I’ve ever had, but it’s certainly not the worst. The biggest issue I have with Clover Valley peanut butter is that it can be a bit dry and crumbly. This isn’t necessarily a deal-breaker for me, but it is something to keep in mind.
If you’re looking for an affordable peanut butter that will get the job done, Clover Valley is a decent option. However, if you’re looking for the absolute best peanut butter money can buy, you’ll probably want to look elsewhere.
